Is Your Home Safe?

We protect our loved ones. It’s a natural instinct. We want our children to wear a helmet, to buckle up in the car, to not talk to strangers, etc., What if the danger was more discreet? What if it was in your safe place? What if the danger lurked right under the roof of your home?

The silent killer we are talking about is Radon gas.

Did you know that 1 in 10 homes have unsafe levels of Radon? Don’t be this statistic. As you may know, Radon gas is the second leading cause of lung cancer behind smoking. However, a lesser known effect of Radon is its link to Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. A study conducted at the University of North Dakota showed that once Radon is inhaled through the lungs, it has potential to creep up into brain tissue. When tested, radioactive Radon chemicals were on average 10 times higher in patients with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s than those patients without Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s. The effects of Radon gas can be extreme—they can be deadly. Let’s make Radon testing as important as installing a fire alarm or a carbon monoxide detector in your home. It could save a life. It could save your life.

Take a look at the map below. Where do you live?
