Spruce Up Your Space: Closet Cleaning!

One door.

One door that separates you from something that’s either stress-free or stress-full. Behind this door may be a space you gloat about, or it may be a space you get choked up about. Do you get where we’re going with this?

Your closets. That’s right, plural.

We’re all for having a space to throw your junk, it’s normal! However, we want to eliminate as much stress as possible, which is why we are encouraging you to take a few hours (or days) to clean the clutter. There are a variety of closets that might be in your home: mudroom closets, food closets (pantry), linen closets, coat closet, craft closet, and of course the beloved clothing closet.

Did you know that we wear 20% of the clothes we own approximately 80% of the time? The other clothes you’re wondering? Yeah, they’re normally just there to fill up hangers—we save that blue blouse for a “just in case” occasion. Let’s get rid of this mentality! We suggest you go through each item of clothing and ask yourself when the last time was that you wore it. If you can’t remember, it’s time to toss it! Remember, there are plenty of good donation sites to bring your gently used items to. We’ll list a few of ‘em at the bottom. It may be difficult to part with certain items, but trust us, it’ll make you feel spring clean.

After you’ve spent the time digging through new and old clothes, we suggest you move to the different closets around the house. Throw away expired food in the pantry, give away your son’s rain boots that are too small for him, or donate that old winter jacket you never wear to a person that could use it next winter.

In the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day, you you might be surprised what pot o’ gold is behind the clutter! Maybe that pair of shoes you’ve been searching for, or a $20 bill in an old pair of jeans. You’ll never know until you try, so what’re you waiting for? Take the afternoon off of work and get to work!

As mentioned in our other blog posts, this spring is the perfect time to utilize our services in ensuring your home is Radon-free and safe for your family. Radon is the silent killer. It is the second leading cause of lung cancer for Americans. We want to protect your family from the potential threat of this haunting gas that could be in your home.
